How long does it take to learn to ride in Dubai?
There is no fixed timeline, but most beginners start to feel comfortable at walk and trot within a handful of regular lessons, while building a confident, independent seat takes months of consistent practice. At JSR Equestrian Club in Dubai, progress depends on how often you ride and your starting point.
What shapes how fast you learn
How quickly you progress comes down to a few things: how often you ride, your balance and fitness, and your confidence around horses. Riders who take regular lessons tend to advance faster than those who ride only occasionally, because skills like balance, rhythm, and rein contact build through repetition.
Everyone learns at their own pace, and that is normal. The goal of early lessons is a correct, confident foundation, so you build good habits from the start rather than rushing.
How lessons work at JSR
Our arena lessons are 45 minute coached sessions in a floodlit, all weather arena with maintained footing and a lettered dressage set up. Beginners start with confidence building fundamentals before progressing, and horses are matched to your height, weight, and ability, so you are never guessing.
Lessons run as private one to one, semi private for two riders, or group sessions, with dedicated jumping options once you are ready to progress. Helmets and chaps are provided free of charge, so you can simply turn up and ride.
A realistic path for beginners
A practical way to start is regular private or small group lessons, which give you the most focused coaching time in the saddle. As your balance and confidence grow, you move from being led at walk toward steering, trotting, and eventually cantering independently.
If you would like a sense of where you are starting from, contact us and we can match you to the right lesson format and a suitable horse for your first session.
